For a quick rundown of some Resident Evil history Raccoon City housed the Umbrella Corperation which made a form of virus called the T-Virus which turned humans into well "zombies" or the "infected". A team was sent in to figure out what happened. The team was Jill Valentine, Chris Redfield, Albert Wesker and Barry Burton. Albert Wesker supposebly dies during the final fight with the tyrant and so does Barry. Leaving Jill and Chris to escape. This was the first resident evil game set 24 hours before Resident Evil 2. Than Claire Redfield and Leon S. Kennedy both go to Raccon City. Racoon city has been taken over because of Umbrella President William Birkin who spilt the T-Virus into the sewers which turned rats into infected which later made the whole city infected. 
Claire and Leon look for her brother. They find out Chris Redifeld went to Europe to chase after the Umbrella company. They later find the lab where the T-Virus and the G-Virus were produced. They escape from Racoon city after dealing with a infected William Birkin. Which ends the Resident Evil. Than Resident evil 3 occurs where you follow Jill Valentine and her team on there escape from Racoon City with her team she later meets with. She fights the Nemesis project which is a huge warrior and escapes only with one soldier named Carlos Oliveira. The U.S. government than decides to hit Racoon city with a nuclear missile and end the violence and infections for good. Other games like Resident Evil: Code Veronica and Resident Evil: Zero take place in between certain games.
Later on Leon S. Kennedy returns to be sent on a mission to a rural city in Europe to save the presidents daughter who was kidnapped by a cult. The cult used a parasite to control there people and attack Leon during his game. But this game featured no "Zombies" at all. But it did reveal that former member of Chris Redfield's group STARS Albert Wesker was still alive and that he was trying to rebuild the Umbrella corperation. Then a year later Leon is working for the TerraSave organization and Claire Redfield is aiding a family meet once again, not since Resident Evil 2, at an airport that is than found out to be infected. They fight to escape the airport and find out that the Wilpharma company has the G-Virus and other viruses. This cause panic and leads to the fall of Wilpharma by Leon and Claire. Soon after the airport is blown up, a new company comes to town called Tricell. The company first introduced in Resident Evil 5. This all leads up to Chris Redifield landing in Africa while working for the BSAA. He meets up with Sheva Alomar to fight bioterrorism but Chris has more in mind. He is searching for Jill Valentine who was presumed dead in the beginning of the game. This is where I leave you to play Resident Evil 5 and close the chapter for yourself.-T
